Made to last

We build our boards with the best materials we can reliably get our hands on so that your board will last longer, and (one day) retire with pride.

  • We use nylon top sheet for good UV protection and impact resistance. We hand engrave the Lunar logo into the top, revealing Carbon Fiber inside the board, and then backfill with a durable, glossy finishing epoxy.

  • Our cores are constructed from vertically laminated bamboo, it's a hard yet flexible fiber that offers great resistance to moisture. We shape it down into the perfect profile for each ride and pour-in resin reinforcements to the tip and tail for additional impact durability.

  • Not all composites are made equal. The composites that reinforce our cores are the foundation for solid construction. We've thoughtfully selected products that have great directional uniformity, fiber distribution, and excellent wet-out properties for optimal lamination. We start with a layer of triaxial and/or biaxial fiberglass for strength, stiffness, and response. Carbon reinforcements are then strategically placed to amplify performance while reducing weight and create a balanced profile - not rigid and chattery, or damp and lifeless - just right.

  • Stronger, lighter, more responsive, more aggressive. Carbon Fiber is an incredible material with unmatched strength-to-weight ratio. We employ strategic carbon additions where more strength is needed for added response and a better ride.

  • Triaxial fiberglass has 3 axis of fiber direction, 90/45+/- degrees. Triaxial glass offers added strength and torsional stiffness to create a stronger response edge-to-edge.

Biaxial fiberglass has 2 axis of fiber direction, 0/90 degrees. Biaxial glass has added stiffness at 90 degrees while being more relaxed torsionally lending to a more playful balance.

  • We use sintered 4000 base material which is fast, durable, and requires minimal maintenance. We've found it to be a great step above 2000 - which holds wax longer but doesn't hold up as well to rocks and other lurkers.
